Jamal Naser Farahmand is an Afghan-American journalist, media professional, producer, presenter, and communications leader with more than 15 years of experience in journalism, broadcasting, media production, public affairs, and media management.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Political Science from Kabul University, with an academic background that provided him with a strong foundation in political affairs, public institutions, law, governance, and social issues.

Throughout his professional career in Afghanistan, Farahmand worked with several established media organizations in roles including journalist, television and radio presenter, program host, and producer. His experience includes news reporting, political and public-affairs coverage, interviews, program development, editorial production, and community-focused storytelling.

In addition to his media career, Farahmand has held leadership responsibilities in public communications. His professional record includes serving as Director of Press and Public Awareness at the Office of the President of Afghanistan, where he worked in media relations, public information, communications, and engagement with media organizations and the public.

After relocating to the United States, Farahmand continued his work in media and community communications. In Sacramento, California, he founded PAHNA Media, a community-centered media initiative dedicated to serving Afghan immigrants and diaspora communities in California.

Through PAHNA Media, Farahmand is working to build a trusted media platform that connects Afghan communities with reliable news, useful information, community stories, public affairs coverage, educational content, and opportunities for civic engagement.

As part of its community media work, PAHNA Media collaborates with Access Sacramento, a nonprofit community media organization, to produce and broadcast television programming that highlights the experiences, challenges, achievements, and perspectives of Afghan immigrant communities. Through this collaboration, PAHNA develops community-focused television programs and provides a platform for Afghan voices to be represented in Sacramento’s broader media landscape.

Under Farahmand’s leadership, PAHNA Media produces community-focused programming, interviews, news coverage, digital content, and the PAHNA Show, while continuing to expand its capacity for multimedia journalism, television production, and field reporting.

His broader vision is to create a professional, independent, and community-oriented media platform that reflects the experiences and needs of Afghan immigrants, strengthens access to reliable information, and builds a bridge between Afghan communities and the wider society in California.

With a background spanning journalism, broadcasting, production, communications, public affairs, and media leadership, Jamal Naser Farahmand brings more than a decade of professional experience to PAHNA Media and its mission of building a stronger, better-informed, and more connected Afghan immigrant community.
